Spot a fake offer

Trade safety

Every real offer for an order here looks the same. Once you know what that is, the fakes are easy to spot.

01How to check the offer

It goes to your trade URL

The offer goes to the URL you entered at checkout and nowhere else. Nobody asks you to add a friend, join a group, or click a link to receive it.

You never send anything

The sender's side has the skin. Your side is empty. If an offer wants your items, it is not your order. Decline it.

We never ask for credentials

No Steam password, no Steam Guard code, no QR login, no "verification" through a link. The trade URL is all we need.

It matches your order

Same skin and same exterior as the item you paid for. If it doesn't match, don't accept. Email us instead.

02Scams to know about

Fake trade admin

Someone on Steam, Discord, or Telegram says they're a PrefireSkins admin and your items need to be "verified" or moved to a "safe account". Nobody from PrefireSkins will ever ask you to trade items to a person. Block them.

API scam

A phishing site steals your Steam Web API key. The scammer then cancels real offers and re-sends fakes from a lookalike account. Check the sender's profile on every offer, and if you find an API key you didn't create, revoke it on the Steam API key page.

Fake escrow

A "middleman" offers to hold items so the trade is safe. There is no middleman step in our process and no one holds your items. Anyone proposing this is the scam.

Phishing login pages

A lookalike Steam login page grabs your password and Steam Guard code. Real Steam login only happens on steamcommunity.com or steampowered.com. If you typed your password anywhere else, change it now and deauthorize all devices.

03If something looks off

  1. 01

    Don't accept

Leave the offer sitting. Nothing happens to a pending offer you ignore.

  2. 02

    Check the basics

Open the sender's profile from inside the offer. Compare the item to your order. Look at the trade URL in your confirmation email.

  3. 03

    Write to us

Email support@prefireskins.com with your order number and a screenshot of the offer. We'll check it against your order.

  4. 04

    Lock your account

If you logged in anywhere odd, change your Steam password, deauthorize all devices, and check your API key page.

Something doesn't add up

Send the screenshot and your order number. We'd rather check a real offer than miss a fake one.
